Dough

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt Land O Lakes® Unsalted Butter. Continue to cook, whisking occasionally, until butter begins to foam, then begins to smell toasty and nutty, then browns, 7 to 8 minutes. Pour into the large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Let cool for about 5 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, cream of tartar, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cardamom and cloves.
  3. Using a stand mixer, beat the brown butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar on medium-high speed until fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add egg and vanilla and stir to combine. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until the last trace of flour disappears.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough until cold, about 1 hour.

Rolling & Assembly

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Put the powdered sugar in another small bowl.
  2. Scoop dough with a 1/4 cup cookie scoop and roll into balls. Roll each ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture, followed by the powdered sugar. Arrange the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Gently press each cookie.
  3. Bake cookies until set and crumpled, about 15 minutes; do not overcook. Let cool on sheets.
