What is the secret of this Jewish woman’s success?

It may be a combination of a few factors: Sonya’s strength and perseverance as a full-time nurse, her caring demeanor as a mother of five young children, her devoted partnership with “Mr. Prep”, and her love and genuine enthusiasm for Jewish cooking and life.

When Sonya experienced infertility early in her marriage, she scoured the web and searched YouTube for answers. “I’ve always turned to YouTube for motivation and inspiration,” Sonya reveals. “I wanted to learn things and found YouTube to be one of the biggest search engines.”

Sonya was particularly intrigued by the Mommy Channels phenomenon. “These women are showing their daily lives,” she explains, “and people are subscribing and watching. I was wondering if there was something like that for the Jewish community.

At the time, there were none.

In her heart, Sonya wanted to represent Jewish mothers online. “But I was very shy and very introverted,” she admits. “It took me a while to find the courage and rip off the bandage.”

She and her husband were torn about opening their lives to the world and becoming so vulnerable. “I was very nervous about putting my life forward as a Jewish woman.”

But her love for sharing wisdom and her appreciation for this type of content gave her the confidence to give it a try.

And she succeeded. Jews and non-Jews love his videos.

And she’s super relatable.

“My very first video was of me making challah with my three youngest kids, and they were screaming in the background…but that’s real life,” she shares. “Being authentic is key.”

Sonya’s Shabbat cooking videos have encouraged people to return to their kitchens and create memories for the whole family.

Unfortunately, Sonya questions herself every time she uploads a new video. “You create content for people to judge and see,” she says. “It’s an internal struggle.” While the feedback on his videos is “99.9%” positive, there are still those who dislike the Jewish people. Some who are “just plain old mean whoever you are”.

Still, Sonya remains strong. “The more negative feedback you get, the thicker your skin gets,” she notes.

Sonya also feels responsible for portraying authentic Jewish life and breaking down misconceptions.

In one video, Sonya and her husband sit down and talk about their marriage. Titled “Love, Dating & Marriage as an Orthodox Jewish Couple Q&A,” the video shows the couple explaining their history together. Sonya and her husband respect and support each other. They are a shining example of two educated and equal partners in a loving marriage.

At the end of the day, Sonya doesn’t let the pressure get to her. She honed her skill at staying calm, cool, and collected while working as an emergency room nurse. “When you’re in the middle of an emergency… the patients are watching you and you have to be calm so they don’t panic.”
