My grandmother loved to cook. From pies and cobblers to cakes and cookies, everything she baked was delicious. Here’s her old-fashioned cookie dough recipe for die-cut cookies. Unlike your typical die-cut cookie dough, this one doesn’t contain butter and requires buttermilk. This cookie recipe is easy to prepare and bake.
Type of cuisine: American
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 10 to 15 minutes
Total time: 20 to 25 minutes
Here’s how to do it:
- Cream the shortening and sugar together. Add the eggs, beating well after each. Stir in buttermilk, flour, baking powder and vanilla. Mix well.
- Roll out the dough as thick or thin as you want. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size and thickness of the cookies. The cookies can be glazed or decorated as desired after cooling.
